This application is restricted to a single phase non-hazardous electrical installation not exceeding 200 amps or 300 volts between phase conductors. Electrical work exceeding 200 amps or 300 volts, polyphase or in hazardous locations must be performed by a licensed Saskatchewan Electrical Contractor.

To be eligible for an Electrical Wiring Permit, you must agree with the following:
• I am the owner and occupant of the property, which is a single-family dwelling, detached house that is intended for the use of one family.
• I am not preparing the premises for sale or rent.
• I have not held a permit for the complete wiring of a residence in the last 12 months.
• I agree to perform all the work to the requirements of the current Canadian Electrical Code and Saskatchewan Interpretations.
• I understand that it is unlawful for any person outside the permit holder’s immediate family to undertake any part of the work of the installation to which this permit applies.

To the best of my knowledge, this application is accurate. I understand that a false or misleading statement in this application or in any of the reference or other evidence or qualification submitted by myself or on my behalf may result in the Chief Inspector denying this application.

This section contains descriptions of each type of work and the applicable fees.


1. Select Electrical service
Electrical Service must be installed by the applicant who is a licensed Saskatchewan Electrical Journeyperson OR an immediate family member who is a licensed Saskatchewan Electrical Journeyperson and is installing the service.

You MUST include the Name and Licence # of the Electrical Journeyperson completing the work.

2. Wiring of hot tub, swimming pool or GenerLink
A hot tub, swimming pool or Generlink must be wired by the applicant who is a licensed Saskatchewan Electrical Journeyperson OR an immediate family member who is a licensed Saskatchewan Electrical Journeyperson.

You MUST include the Name and Licence # of the Electrical Journeyperson completing the work.

3. Addition of a Sub-Panel 200 amps or less

Addition of a Sub-Panel - for example installing an electrical panel in your house or garage fed from the main panel in your house.

4. Wiring or rewiring of a single family dwelling with or without garage
This fee of $400.00 is for branch circuit wiring for a single family dwelling 200 amps or less. If service/sub-panel is required, complete section 1 or 3 above.

5. Wiring of a farm outbuilding – branch circuit wiring only 200 amps or less

Wiring of a farm outbuilding - branch circuit wiring. This fee of $150.00 is for each farm outbuilding 200 amps or less. If service/sub-panel is required, complete section 1 or 3 above.

6. Basement, addition or renovation to residential building

For renovations to a residential building - branch circuit wiring only (ex. kitchen renovation). As long as the work being performed is not more than 50% of the residence being wired or rewired, it is a fee of $150.00 per floor.

7. Residential garage (wiring or rewiring) branch circuit wiring only
If service/sub-panel is required, complete section 1 or 3 above.

8. Equipment wiring (examples: electric heaters, furnace, air conditioner, etc.)
This is for "hard wired" equipment only. This would include electric heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, etc. This option is not required with items 4, 5, 6, and 7. If sub-panel is required, complete section 3 above.

9. Addition or replacement of lights, switches, outlets and smoke detectors (Max 15 of each item)
• Select base fee of $40.00, this includes up to 4 items or less.
• For more than 4 items, select the base fee above and enter the additional number of items in the quantity field.

If the total amount of the items exceeds the $150.00 fee, do not use this section, complete section 6 on the application form.
